A physical key is an anonymous, permanent, copyable credential. Every code use is logged with a name and a time, and the lock reports to the same app as your alarm and cameras. The 3:12 p.m. entry is the kids home from school — you can see it, from the office, without a phone call. - What happens if the lock’s battery dies? +
- The lock warns you in the app weeks ahead, then warns you again on the keypad. Even fully dead, every model we install keeps a physical key cylinder or an external battery-contact backup — you are never locked out of your own house by a AA battery.
- Can I still use a normal key? +
- Yes. The deadbolts we install keep a standard cylinder, so a physical key always works. Most families find they stop carrying house keys within a month anyway.
- Can the lock let someone in while I am away? +
- From the app, from anywhere — unlock for the plumber, watch him arrive on the doorbell camera, lock up behind him when he leaves. Or send a temporary code that only works that afternoon.
- Do smart locks work on older doors? +
- Usually, after we correct the fit. Swollen slabs and shifted strikes are normal for Texas doors and are exactly why we adjust the door before installing anything motorized. If a door genuinely needs work beyond that, we tell you before the quote, not after.
